Fun Run to fight Cancer

Share

The seventh Bosom Friends Santa Fun Run is officially open for registration. The Lancashire-based cancer support charity Bosom Friends is encouraging locals to enter its annual Santa Fun Run by registering online as well as collecting registration forms from their shop in Barnoldswick and also the Petty Real estate agents branch in Barnoldswick.

Bosom Friends is an independent charity run by volunteers, its aim is to make a difference to the lives of local people affected by any type of cancer.

Since the group was launched in 2000, thanks to the generosity of local people and business Bosom Friends has raised over £800,000, allowing them to directly support people in the Pendle, Craven and Ribble Valley area.

Petty Real, the Lancashire Estate Agent, is one of the supporting businesses. Ian Bythell, Director at Petty Real, gave the following comment:

“Petty Real is a community-minded Estate Agent, and that’s why we’re really keen to support this project. The Bosom Friends Santa Fun Run is for a great cause and it’s something we are all looking forward to, and not just because my staff want to see me in a Santa suit.”

The group not only offers emotional support but also everyday practical help, discretionary financial aid as well as organising regular meeting and social activities at their new centre in Barnoldswick.

The Santa Fun Run takes place in Barnoldswick on Sunday, December 15th, and is expected to see 300 locals walk, jog and run to raise money for the charity. Entry is just £10 per person which goes directly to the charity which provides support for people affected by cancer and includes a free Santa suit and on completion a commemorative medal along with a hot beverage and a mince pie.

The Santa Fun Run is important to the charity because it involves local businesses and the public to come together to support this fantastic cause. West Craven Insurance, Petty’s Estate Agents, Hope Technology and Barnoldswick Rotary are some of the local organisations that are sponsoring this year’s event. The community spirit on the day is amazing from people volunteering their time to help run the event, participating as a Santa or even spectating and cheering their friends and loved ones along. It is an event that brings everyone together for an amazing charity whilst having fun.

Obtaining sponsorship is important – even if it is a minimum amount of £20 per person that would mean £6,000 would go towards continuing to provide support for people affected by cancer in the Pendle, Craven and Ribble Valley.

Please visit the Bosom Friends website www.bebosomfriends.org.uk to learn more about the work they do and to enter the Santa Fun Run.
