Padiham Estate Agency

Petty’s has started the year with the acquisition of Padiham Estate Agency as owner, John Ritchings retires.

Padiham Estate Agency was first opened by John’s Grandfather in 1947 as ‘Ritchings & Hayhurst’ with its office in Nelson. Over the years, this family run estate agency closed the Nelson office and operated out of new premises in Padiham, a thriving business that has served the local communities in both residential sales and lettings since 1963.

John is delighted that Petty’s takes over their portfolio of properties saying: “Petty’s is such a highly regarded brand in the area that I know the sales and lettings properties I have on my books will certainly be in safe hands. Like ourselves, Petty’s takes a very personal approach to the way they operate and I am confident that the team will retain these values and continue to focus on customer service.”

As Petty’s expands its group, Ian Bythell added: “The acquisition of Padiham Estate Agency is a very exciting time for us as a local business as it not only consolidates our leading high street position in the area but also our plans to secure growth in the lettings arena. Petty’s identified the boom in demand for rental properties during the economic downturn and we firmly believe that this trend will continue so increasing our property listing continues to be a key driver for us.”

Petty’s current team of 8 in the Lettings department will be enhanced with the addition of Joanne Cudworth who joins from Padiham Estate Agency and John Ritchings himself who will act as a consultant for the next 12 months to ensure a smooth transition of the business to Petty’s.

Established in 1928, Petty’s offer a full range of property related services including bespoke valuation advice, commercial and residential agency, landlord and tenant services, compulsory purchase negotiations and rating advice.
