Pettys Challenge Trophy

WE organised a five-a-side football tournament last week and raised over £600 for Pendleside Hospice.

The tournament – Pettys Corporate Challenge Trophy – was organised as part of the ongoing Pendleside Hospice Corporate Challenge, which has seen us and numerous other local businesses competing to raise funds.

The event took place last week at Soccer Burnley, which is part of the Crow Wood leisure complex. Seven local companies – Azzurri Communications, Cassons, Denwa, Farnworth Rose, Marsden Building society, Mortgage 65 and Pettys each fielded mixed, five-a-side teams.

The action packed games were played in two groups with two Semi-Finals and Final played between Azzuri Communications and Denwa.

Azzurri Communications won the match 5-4 and were awarded the Pettys Corporate Challenge Trophy, having beaten off some stiff competition along the way.

The event was well supported and proved to be an enjoyable afternoon and raised over £600.00 for Pendleside Hospice.

Ian Bythell, our Residential Director, said: “It was a great afternoon and we’re really proud to have raised much needed funds for Pendleside Hospice. Their work is vitally important and they have touched so many lives in a really positive way. Most of us have at some point experienced friends or family with life limiting illnesses and it’s humbling to see the amazing support for people that is provided by our wonderful hospice.”

Christina Cope, from Pendleside Hospice, added: “We’re really grateful to all the businesses that have been taking part in our Corporate Challenge. The tournament organised by Pettys was a great success and is one of the many events that has brought people together to support the hospice. We are delighted to have had such a prominent local business taking part in the challenge and getting so much commitment from all their members of staff.”
