Santas Dash

Share

Over 400 Santa’s took to the start line in a dash to raise thousands of pounds for local charity, Bosom Friends. Breaking all records, the third Santa run saw more Santa’s than ever before take to the streets and at the last count, over £7000 has been raised with more money still to come in.

The Santa run was sponsored by many local businesses including ourselves and our very own Aaron Tunbridge even crossed the line in the top 100 places. The first runner back was 12 year old Harry Clark who plays football for Barnoldswick Town Juniors.

Simon Morgan said: “Despite only being in its third year, the Santa run has become the race that really kick starts the festivities in Barnoldswick and it was great to be a part of. Petty’s are ardent supporters of local charities and community events and this combined both perfectly. It was great to see supporters of all ages come out in support, donning their costumes with pride to raise funds that exceeded all expectations.”

The Santa run began with a warm up session at West Craven High School before taking to the streets in a 5 kilometre route to the finish line at Barnoldswick’s main square where each runner received a medal and a mince pie.

Sharon Hurst, Events Manager for the Santa Fun Run on behalf of Bosom Friends added: “I am totally overwhelmed at how many Santas we received considering the horrendous weather we had experienced up to the event. I would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to every one of the Santas who came and participated this year and also a very big thank you to all the businesses who also sponsored this event and to everyone who volunteered their time in the run up and on the day to help; without their amazing support this event would not be possible.  “Organising an event like this is hard work and takes months to prepare but when it all comes together like it did it makes every bit of it worthwhile especially for a local charity like Bosom Friends. If anyone has any sponsorship money to collect please do so and hand it in as soon as possible please at The Bosom Friends shop or Petty’s. Once again a massive thank you from me and all the Trustees at Bosom Friends. A charity that is proud to be local and unique.”

Bosom Friends is a Barnoldswick and Earby charity that provides support for people affected by cancer.
